McKayla Maroney, now 22 years old and a retired American artistic gymnast, stated that Larry Nassar, the former USA Gymnastics national team doctor, had molested the young woman on her very first visit to the famed Karolyi ranch; the USA Gymnastics National Team training center located at Walker County, Texas. The decorated Olympian, who had won multiple medals including a gold throughout the course of her illustrious career and was a member of the “Fierce Five” at the 2012 Summer Olympics, also claimed that Nassar would continue his vile and repulsive acts upon her “hundreds of times” over the course of the next five years. After NBC News’ Savannah Guthrie conducted an exclusive interview with Maroney for a special investigative edition of “Dateline” which is set to air this upcoming Sunday night at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT, McKayla stated the following: “He said that nobody would understand this and the sacrifice that it takes to get to the Olympics. So you can’t tell people this.” Nassar, now a convicted serial child molester, is set to be released from federal prison, at the earliest, on March 23, 2069, by which time he would be 105 years old. After disclosing information as to how she was a victim in this awful ordeal, Maroney went into vivid detail recalling the memories of those traumatic events and the repeated nature by which they occurred: “He told me he was going to do a checkup on me and that was the first day I was abused.” Larry admittedly told the court that he penetrated his patients with ungloved hands under the guise of medical treatment, which then raised the question as to whether powerful institutions could have done more to stop him. A U.S. Senate subcommittee was held this past Wednesday on how to prevent similar situations from arising and also on how to protect Olympic athletes by continuously taking testimony from victims in several sports across the athletic landscape. To recapitulate the primary points of the situation at hand, I feel absolutely awful that McKayla Maroney and several others were subject to Nassar’s nauseating and deplorable actions, and hope that the USA Gymnastics Organization takes the steps necessary in order to prevent their athletes from being subject to these despicable crimes.

After the recent signing of quarterback Robert Griffin III two days ago, the Baltimore Ravens’ General Manager and Head Coach, Ozzie Newsome and John Harbaugh, respectively, are set to be questioned on Thursday, April 12. The thirty-year old Colin Kaepernick, a former National Football League QB who brought the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2013, who has not played since 2016, has essentially been a voice for the people by consistently putting on display the prevalent themes of racial inequality and police brutality against African American individuals. Considering that many “patriots” have been against Kaepernick, this has spiraled into a turn-off for many fans who refuse to attend games in which Colin decides to take a knee during the national anthem, thus decreasing financial prosperity for the owners in account. In return, many owners seem to be avoiding signing the former Pro bowl quarterback, and Colin recently filed a grievance against the owners of the NFL for collusion last October, claiming they purposely have not given him a contract for his protests against the government, instead of his football ability. Personally, I have come to the realization that it is blatantly obvious that owners across the football landscape have colluded in not signing the former Pro Bowl quarterback. Despite his most recent lackluster season in which he threw for 2,241 yards in addition to 16 touchdowns and 4 interceptions, there is absolutely no question in my mind that he merits a signing from an NFL roster. To make it simple, there are not fifty better players at his position in the National Football League, so even a backup quarterback position would suffice, but to not be signed by any team albeit Kaepernick still being in his prime at thirty years of age? It is absolutely preposterous and Colin does not deserve to be indirectly disciplined for his valiant and audacious attitudes against our current political system/climate.
